›› North Dakota: Drug
Climate
In North Dakota the primary concern for law enforcement and public health officials
is the trafficking and use of methamphetamine. Currently, no single drug
trafficking organizations dominates the distribution of meth.
- Cocaine
Cocaine, while available in North Dakota, does not pose a significant
threat. Methamphetamine, often called the poor man's cocaine, rivals cocaine
as the stimulant drug of choice. Prices for cocaine range from $100 to $120
per gram.
- Heroin
The use and distribution of heroin has not been a significant problem in North
Dakota. Virtually all of the heroin encountered in North Dakota, mainly in
Fargo, is black tar heroin from Mexico.
- Meth
In North Dakota, the meth threat is a double battle. Not only are large quantities
of meth produced by Mexican organizations based in California and Washington
being transported into and distributed throughout North Dakota; the production
of meth locally within the state has begun to increase.
- Club Drugs
The threat of "Club Drugs" is
extremely mild in North Dakota; indications have shown though that they are
making their way into the Fargo area in small quantities.
- Marijuana
Marijuana is one of the primary drugs of choice in North Dakota. Most of North
Dakota's marijuana is supplied by Mexican drug organizations. There are a
limited amount of individuals who cultivate their own marijuana crops..
