The primary drug of concern in Nevada is meth. Additionally, cocaine and crack cocaine use in urban areas are of great concern.

• Cocaine
  Cocaine is moderately available in northern Nevada and is readily available throughout southern Nevada. Crack cocaine is easily accessible in the urban areas of Nevada.
• Heroin
  The most prevalent type of heroin in Nevada is what is known as Mexican black tar heroin. It is smuggled into Nevada by Mexican drug trafficking organizations.
• Meth
  The most commonly abused drug in Nevada is meth. Nevada imports meth as well as producing it. Meth is brought into Nevada via ground transportation by organized Mexican drug trafficking groups.
• Club Drugs
  Club drugs are readily available in cities located in the southern section of Nevada, particularly Las Vegas. Club drugs such as ecstasy, ghb, and lsd are trafficked and abused in local nightclubs, adult entertainment clubs, and at raves.
• Marijuana
  The primary source of marijuana for Nevada is through Mexican poly-drug groups. Over the last year, there has been an increase in the cultivation of indoor marijuana in the Las Vegas area. In June 2001, Assembly Bill 453 was signed into law and made Nevada the ninth state in the U.S. where patients can use marijuana for medicinal purposes. In addition, the new state law which went into effect October 1, 2001, decriminalizes possession of small amounts (ounce quantity or less) of marijuana, which previously was a state felony.
