›› Nebraska: Drug
Climate
Methamphetamine is the major concern for law enforcement within the state of
Nebraska. Nebraska continues to be a transshipment state for Mexican methamphetamine
with Interstate 80 providing easy west to east access across the state.
- Cocaine
In Nebraska, cocaine is predominantly controlled by Hispanic trafficking
organizations, many from Mexico. In large urban centers of Nebraska crack
cocaine is a serious problem.
- Heroin
While heroin is not considered a drug of choice in Nebraska, some Hispanic
trafficking organizations have heroin available.
- Meth
Meth is the greatest drug threat to the state of Nebraska, and is available
in almost every town and community. Meth produced in clandestine labs is
also readily available in many communities in addition to the large amount
of meth smuggled in by Hispanic drug organizations.
- Club Drugs
The popularity of these drugs is increasing at an alarming rate in Nebraska,
as there is a perception among users that these drugs are "safe" to
use. Much of the ecstasy in Nebraska is brought from both Florida and Arizona.
There are efforts currently underway to link investigations of mid-level
distributors and "Rave" parties.
- Marijuana
Marijuana is the most prevalent illicit drug in Nebraska. The production of
marijuana both outdoor and hydroponic indoor grows have steady, with many
seizures netting upwards of 500plants.
